Washington, D.C. — CapeTown DMV proudly partnered with Monumental Sports & Entertainment for their Back-to-School Community Event at Randle Highlands Elementary School in Southeast Washington, D.C. The collaboration brought together local organizations, volunteers, and community leaders to ensure that students and families started the school year feeling confident, prepared, and cared for.
During the event, CapeTown DMV provided free grooming and beauty services — including fresh haircuts, braids, and styles — helping students look and feel their best on their first day of school. Our team of talented barbers, stylists, and volunteers worked tirelessly to serve dozens of children, ensuring that every student left with a smile and renewed sense of pride.
“It’s about more than just a haircut or hairstyle,” said Felicia Webb, Co-Founder of CapeTown DMV. “When children look good, they feel good — and that confidence carries into the classroom, their friendships, and how they show up in the world. We’re grateful to Monumental Sports for recognizing the importance of that and helping us bring this experience to the community.”
The event also featured backpack giveaways, school supplies, health screenings, and community resources — a true celebration of unity and support for families in Ward 8 and beyond.
This partnership with Monumental Sports marked another milestone in CapeTown DMV’s mission to build self-esteem within underserved communities by providing free hair and beauty services while creating pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, and licensure. Since 2020, CapeTown DMV has been dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and giving back to the communities we serve across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region.
As we continue to grow, partnerships like this one remind us that real impact happens when we come together.
